Analysis of country specific legislation was undertaken in preparation
for development of indicators to assess the progress in protection
of children from CSEC, and to input to ECPATs comprehensive
online database.
Meetings were held with the Interpol representative in Bangkok,
the Australian Liaison Police Officer and US Embassy Customs officials
concerning mechanisms for collaboration and mutual support.
Legal support and advice on several issues was provided, including
the development of the three-year Strengthening the Protection of
Children in Latin America from CSEC project in five Central American
countries, funded by the EU and Ireland Aid and due to start in
the next financial year.
Legal advice was provided to AFESIP (Cambodia) on a child trafficking
case. An analysis of the U.S. Supreme Court case on virtual child
pornography was undertaken and a statement for ECPAT International
was prepared for joint issue with ECPAT-USA.
Informational materials on various aspects of nominations, elections,
amendment procedures and other governance matters related to the
ECPAT General Assembly (September 2002) were prepared, and a review
of the ECPAT International Constitution was carried out.
