ECPAT Booth at World Congress III attracts delegates from around the world

Over the course of the World Congress III, ECPAT’s booth was a welcoming and popular destination for Congress participants, wanting to expand their knowledge to combat the commercial sexual exploitation of children and seeking out ECPAT’s WCIII-related publications and advocacy materials, as well as ECPAT’s wealth of other information on the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

ECPAT groups from around the world also displayed and distributed their publications, posters and campaign materials in every language and covering every region of the world.

Call to Action booklets, developed by ECPAT and partners as a result of Regional preparatory meetings held in  Asia and Pacific; Europe and Central Asia; South Asia and Latin America were also distributed at ECPAT’s booth. These booklets summarised the main actions and specific advocacy messages that resulted from these meeting and served as valuable resources during the course of the Congress to ensure that the recommendations were echoed in the different forums.

Child-friendly materials

In the belief that young people’s experiences and inputs enrich the deliberations and outcomes of the Congress, and to promote the meaningful participation of the 300 young people at the Congress, ECPAT prepared child-friendly versions of the thematic papers. These papers were distributed on a specially prepared CD aimed at children, which also contained several other of ECPAT’s child-friendly publications in electronic form.

Other materials

In addition to publications, ECPAT prepared other materials for the Congress to help carry the message of a child’s right to protection from sexual exploitation. These included tote bags and buttons, which were offered as free gifts to Congress participants and given to media as part of ECPAT’s press kit. ECPAT also had t-shirts, scarves and ties available that included the message ‘Every child has the right to protection.’

The ECPAT International booth saw a lot of activity over the three-day Congress, with large amounts of ECPA’T’s materials distributed. The booth also served as a networking avenue and meeting ground for all Congress participants including government delegates, experts, professionals and all others seeking to enrich their knowledge and expand their capacity to end the sexual exploitation of children.
