Child and Youth Participation (CYP) and consultation (talking to and getting your opinion) with young people is an important part of the preparation process for the World Congress III against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, to be held in Rio de Janeiro from November 25 - November 28, 2008. We want to provide different channels for young people to share their experiences and knowledge on the issue of sexual exploitation. The earlier Consultation Tool I, which you can still find at this website focuses on getting your inputs into the processes of Children and Adolescents, in other words "How can children and young people participate in the World Congress?"
This Consultation Tool II focuses on getting inputs from the children and adolescents on the Thematic Issues of the Congress. The five priority themes for the World Congress discussions on fighting sexual exploitation are:
This on-line Consultation Tool II on the Thematic Areas of the World Congress III has a set of questions under each of the Thematic Issues. In order to make your contribution and share your ideas with us, you may either complete the full survey or select the Thematic Issue that you are most interested in or have the knowledge/experience on. Everything you say will be treated confidentially and we will not ask you your name.
Thank you for your interest and your taking time to provide your inputs.

How will inputs from young people be used?
Your inputs are very important and will contribute significantly as we prepare and plan for the Regional meetings in various regions and for the main World Congress III in Brazil in November. Following are some of the examples how we can use this information:
1) The Consultation Tool is a medium to reach wider groups of young people so that many of you may have opportunity to provide your inputs into the Thematic Issues of the World Congress III as it is not possible for all interested children and young people to physically attend the Regional Consultations or the WC III.
2)The Consultation Tool can be printed and used for discussions within schools, communities and shelters with children and young people who have the knowledge and experience to contribute to these thematic issues. This can also be used with children who have been selected to attend the Regional Consultations and the WC III as part of their preparation process.
3)If we can receive your inputs by the end of August, we can share the inputs from the young people with the Experts who are writing the Thematic Papers for the World Congress who will be able to take these into consideration while finalizing their papers.
4)If we receive significant and substantive inputs, we can also use this information to compile into a Journal Article for ECPAT International Journal on the issue of Children's Participation against CSEC that is being planned in time for the World Congress III.
5)Overall, your inputs are valuable as it provides us with young people's perspective on the Thematic Issues of the WC II which will be considered while planning the Thematic Sessions.
