--What is your country doing?

A key advocacy tool to achieve the ECPAT-The Body Shop campaign goals is the Country Progress Card System, which ECPAT and The Body Shop created to assess the progress of State action on specific commitments to stop child sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation around the world.

The campaign seeks that governments worldwide take three specific steps services fighting child sex trafficking and improving services provided to child victims:

To implement community-based prevention programmes to stop child trafficking from reaching at-risk populations.

To adhere to international legal standards for protecting children from trafficking and incorporate these in the national legal framework.

To establish specialised government services for child victims of trafficking which are integrated into national policies.

Progress cards play a vital role in advocating for governments to make changes in legislation to protect children from sex trafficking, a main focus of the campaign's second year.

In line with the 2008 Rio de Janeiro Declaration and Call for Action to Prevent and Stop Sexual Exploitation of Children from the World Congress III against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, the innovative Progress Card System allows for comparison between countries based on uniform indicators. It is based on the three main elements of a comprehensive strategy to combat child sex trafficking: prevention, protection and assistance and gives an overview of the main challenges in addressing child trafficking. Progress cards are useful sources of information for campaigns and advocacy activities at national and global levels.

A total of 43 Country Progress Cards and one Progress Card for the Middle East Region have been created and support the 'call to action' for the national campaign. Click on each country to download the progress cards.
