Title : Combating the Trafficking in Children for Sexual Purposes: A Training Guide
Abstract : The resources in this Manual are for the use of trainers who are seeking to train multi-stakeholder groups consisting of professionals who want to learn about the issue of child trafficking, to know how to protect children from being trafficked for sexual purposes, and to give appropriate protection and assistance to those children who come within their sphere of professional responsibility as victims of trafficking. The target audience is mainly police men and women, social workers, and state agency employees concerned with child protection. Within the overall context of ‘child trafficking’, the training seeks to target the care and protection in particular of children who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation, or those children who are at risk of sexual exploitation. The Manual provides information, techniques and tools to make training effective, such as: • The role of the trainer • Understanding the target group • How to manage challenging situations • How to use diverse learning activities and technology • Intercultural skills • Time allocation and prioritisation • How to ensure favourable training conditions The Manual is a practical guide, and is not intended to provide a definitive programme. available in : Dutch | English | Russian | Spanish
Title : Distilling Elements of Good Practice: The Action Programme against Trafficking in Minors for Sexual Purposes [Costa Rica, Thailand, Ukraine]
Abstract : The Action Programme against Trafficking in Minors for Sexual Purposes aimed to reduce child trafficking for sexual purposes through various combined interventions tailored to the specific needs of the countries involved: Costa Rica, Thailand and Ukraine, while ensuring these were consonant with international standards. In all three countries, local demand represents one of the main push factors of the sexual exploitation of trafficked children, although child sex tourism also fuels the trafficking chain.
The examples of good practice and lessons learned illustrated in this booklet show the benefit of interactive programme elements and their overall, cumulative effect on reinforcing a child rights-focused programme that priorities the needs of children within countertrafficking responses and activities. available in : English
